Very good food. Tasty. I ate a sandwich with ham, cheese, and an egg on it. It was very flavorful and well made.
Outdoor seating and lots of safety precautions in place, which is great during this time of COVID. They also have take out. Drinks were beautiful and delicious, homemade bagel and yummy grilled cheese were divine... I may have eaten some of my daughters food! I couldn't resist. Can't wait to come back during non-COVID times to enjoy some more. Stay safe Clayton staff! You are amazing!!
We ate lunch here today (takeout) and it was great! I had a salt bagel with cream cheese, the Irish oatmeal, and the amazing Golden Turmeric Oat Latte. One of the top 5 coffees I’ve ever had. Probably. We also had the grilled chicken sandwich, chefs salad, iced caramel macchiato, ice honey cinnamon latte, double chocolate scone, 2 almond croissants, and a honey cinnamon latte with almond milk. We didn’t love the sandwich or the chefs salad. They didn’t travel well. We had a 20 minute walk back to the hotel. The croissants were absurdly good. Also, the bagel. Let’s talk about bagels. If you’ve not had a properly made, fresh, New York style bagel, stop what you’re doing and make plans to visit Clayton’s. It’s an entirely different experience from your “normal” bagel. We will be coming back!
Excellent variety on the Brunch menu. Delicious meals. A cut above the rest of the eateries around. Food server Deborah was Courteous, Polite and Professional. Kudos!!! This place is worth the few minutes of waiting time to get seated. Overall our party of 6 was extremely satisfied.
Outstanding pastries and friendly service! I only sampled one of the offerings but the quality is clear, I'm keen to try the other savoury dishes. Breakfast looks promising! This is the kind of place that Coronado has been missing.
Let's talk about coffee though... If I judge all coffee in San Diego by Cafe Virtuoso standards then the coffee here does not meet them. It's far from bad, and with small improvements could be great. I really (bold, underlined, italics) want to have great coffee on Coronado.. Please give it a go.
The tranquil interior makes for a peaceful place to talk or work. There is an absence of music (neither good nor bad) and the quiet noises from the kitchen provide an ambience of their own. The carpark to the rear is visible and intrudes upon the space. The open nature of the Cafe is bright and airey, here's hoping the screening plants grow quickly!
Overall, excellent. I'm excited to see the evolution of this place. Imagine if it transitioned into a French inspired wine bar by night...
