So, my wife and I were tired after working on Friday and decided we were just going to go out and grab some dinner. We couldn't decide where to eat, but we knew we wanted Mexican food. We ended up picking a spot we hadn't been to in a while. It used to be called Anejos and it was off of Felicita in Escondido. We get there and see it's not called Sierra Madre Cantina, cool!

So we walk up and are told it will be about 5 minutes. Great!! We were expecting much more on a Friday night!

After the 5 minutes we lead to our table and given the menus. One for dinner and one for some specials they had plus a drink menu. Now, here's the first real red flag I missed initially, but caught in the end. I'll have to explain later or it won't make sense, but remember this flag!

Everything looks and sounds delicious on the menu. We order a Ceviche tower as an appetizer along with a couple Tamarindo margaritas since it was happy hour, chooooww!!!! They also bring salsa and chips. So far, very standard stuff and we're happy with everything.

The salsa and chips arrive. It's surprisingly just like the old restaurant's chips and salsa. No complaints on the chips and salsa, they were great!

The ceviche tower arrives along with our margaritas and it's absolutely fantastic! One of the best ceviche towers We've had. The drinks were big and delicious! We'll definitely go back for this!

Our entrees arrrive. I chose the shrimp enchiladas. My wife chose the green enchiladas with beef. And we ordered the kids chicken quesadilla for my son.

Mine looks fantastic! I dig in and it's amazing! They come with beans and rice which are amazing and a little corn cake type scoop which is also super good, so for me, I had absolutely zero issue with my food.

Now, here's where they started to lose me and a couple stars on this review. My son's quesadilla was beef not chicken, it was supposed to come with beans and rice, and the quesadilla was HUUUGEE! There was also a scoop of guac on his plate that he started to tear into. About 4 chips in, he starts to tell us his tongue is hot. My wife tastes his guac and says WHOA.. there's Serrano peppers in this I think!

I end up asking the waitress about the beans and rice and the size of his quesadilla. She looks at it and says, Oh! This is the appetizer plate, not the kids plate. So she offers us beans or rice. I had to have her read the menu to show her it came with beans AND rice. We didn't want him to wait all over again, so we just kept the beef and kept it pushing.

My son doesn't like sour cream, so my wife scooped it off of his plate and onto her enchiladas. She starts to tear into her food and immediately makes a weird face. So I ask her what's wrong? She says, she thinks the sour cream is bad and it tastes a little rancid. At this point, we've already made a fuss about the quesadilla and we don't like to be "that" couple at a restaurant so she just scoops it off and puts it to the side.

My wife's food was good, not great. If we go back and have entrees, I'm sure she'll order the shrimp version since mine was phenomenal..lol.

In the end, we got our check and it shows $11 for our happy hour margaritas. On the menu, it said $8 (remember the flag up top). I ask the waitress why the price difference and she says, Oh, it's a mistake. That's the wrong price. The other menu shows the real price. And sure enough, there's another menu with a different price.

This kind of rubbed me wrong since it was THEIR fault the price was wrong, not mine. I feel they should have apologized for the mistake and given me the price that was stated on the menu I was given and they can go ahead and fix it for future orders.

All in all, it was good. We learned they were rebranded by Bar Rescue which explains the new name and look. My food was good, but they lost 2 stars on messing up my son's order completely and the drink price. The waitress was very attentive and we will most likely go back, but maybe not right away. Give them some time to get things on track hopefully.

This place is great! Neat environment, super nice owner with great service and the food was really good. I got the fajita Salad and it was one of the best salads I have ever had. Not just a boring salad it was beautiful and very tasty.

Very good! We had the molcajete and the shrimp and steak plate. Food was great. Bar has a great selection of beers and drinks. My wife had the skinny margarita. Excellent!
