Little Sakana Japanese Sushi Bar & Grill

Okay, this place is off to a REALLY good start but has a few things it can improve to be a great restaurant and compete with other local Japanese establishments.

Dishes ordered:
-salmon salad (very good, generous with the salmon)
-ninja roll
-sunset roll
-hot date roll

Pros:
-quality ingredients
-flavors are well-balanced
-stylish interior & good music
-fast and friendly service, everyone is hustling
-ample parking outside

Cons:
-poor execution and presentation on the food. For example, most of the sushi rolls fell apart even when using the lightest touch. Many were over-sauced. A few tweaks here and it could really improve the experience.
-if you sit at the bar beware of servers reaching over you. Not a big deal but with saucy plates it’s easy to get dripped on (thankfully I was wearing black). Maybe a blank space at the bar would be a better place to pass sushi across to avoid this?

Like I said, this place is off to a great start for being so new. I will definitely return and I’m sure over time things will only improve.

A great Japaneses place in Mira Mesa. I've been waiting for a place like this to open here. The quality since the soft open has improved significantly. Especially the entrees, they're really juicy now. Also, the sushi quality has improved it seems more fresh. The service is good, but their staff can be a little redundant sometimes they have multiple people on the same table so things like drinks get duplicated.

What a fantastic spot!! We went for All You Can Eat for $30, everything was an option. I have never eaten so much and been so satisfied with high quality sushi and portions. Highly recommend this spot!! Cool atmosphere with good top 40/hip hop music, easy location, attentive staff. Really enjoyed it!

People. They just opened so they are still perfecting everything. Also it's all you can eat, so the quality will go down but you can get amazing dishes that normally cost 7 each. Appetizers are great. Their rolls are huge. I wish it was a little small but everything is fresh. Keep up the great work

Came on a weekday, figure I would try this place, since it's near by. The beer selection is GREAT, and so were the appetizers. My favorite appetizer in particular was the fried rice, the Dynamite roll I find the best out of the 3 rolls I ordered (Caterpillar and Dragon) I enjoyed the sushi, service (I think, is a lot better now), and the decor was very unique. They also have a good bar you can hang out at, while you wait for your seating. I definitely would recommend this place for people to try.
