El Indio Mexican Restaurant and Catering

The last time I ate here, it was 1974, I was ten. The amazing tamales have not changed, one iota, in nearly 45 years! It's a San Diego tradition, and there's usually a short wait, which is worth every second! I'm a big fan of the entire menu, but if you like good, home made tamales, dis is de place!

After a visit to the San Diego Zoo, this is a perfect place for dinner, especially if you are going to be driving up north on interstate I5. The restaurant is just off the I5 interstate and the best part is they have a pretty big parking lot of their own (this is important if you are in San Diego city areas). The enchiladas with rice and beans was awesome. We really enjoyed it. The salsa varieties were great too. They have indoor and outdoor seating but we preferred the indoor seating to avoid dust/ smoke from the nearby interstate. I don't live in San Diego but if I visit the zoo, I'll surely go here again for dinner ????????

Delicious food, the service was great and the guys and girls behind the counter were very helpful and friendly. I was in and out of there in a reasonable amount of time so even though there was a short line they took care of me fairly quickly. If you're in the area and are hungry stop by and get yourself a bite to eat, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Yummy, yummy delicious for the tummy...

SO DELICIOUS. I have been here a couple times, just ordered the standard California burrito, which was delicious! I went there again this weekend, a little scared to try the fish tacos.. but my goodness am I glad I tried them! They were amazing. I have a feeling I am going to want to come here every time I am in San Diego to get some fish tacos from there!

My favorite place for mexican food. Good place to catch up with friends. I had a cousin come into town and she asked me to go back here. It has a cool feel to it. I can see why they have a lot of great reviews.
