Extraordinary Desserts

I really hate to say it, but this used to be one of my favorite places to take guests visiting San Diego. However, the prices for individual desserts in my opinion are now completely out of control and this restaurant is no longer on my tour list. To keep it semi-reasonable, you pretty much have to split one dessert between two or three people. Fortunately the black coffee still comes with free refills and they do provide rock sugar which is a nice touch. (I guess when you charge $10 for a piece of cake you can afford to buy better sugar.) All of that said, the desserts truly are extraordinary and delicious and you would be hard pressed to find something similar at another dessert shop or restaurant.

Everything is delicious! The customer service is excellent. I haven't had anything I didn't like. The tea is wonderful. It's very relaxing unless you go at a peak time. Then it's a little crazy. And usually a long line. But worth it.

Beautiful desserts! Pretty pricey, plus there was a line out the door, but still worth the wait! They are not just beautiful, they are actually scrumptious too! Wish I had noticed their drink menu as well as desserts... they were so rich that a drink of some sort is very necessary! Get there as early as you can since later in the night the line got longer!

One of our favorite places in San Diego! Love this location because of its proximity to Balboa Park. This lovely little shop is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. We love Chef Karen's book, too!

We enjoy taking guests from out of town here, as well as celebrating birthdays. Everything that we have tried is amazing. A favorite item besides the cakes is the dark chocolate shortbread.

One tip, if you are getting an order to go, be sure to request the delicious sauces that accompany each cake - they really make the experience of eating them extraordinary.
