Ate here for lunch with two friends to celebrate my St Patrick Birthday! I got the blackened Mahi Mahi plate and they each got a salad one with tuna and one with shrimp???? It was so yummy! Can't wait to take my hubby there! My grandson is going to love this place! Plus those that helped us were very friendly!
I tried Point Loma Fish Shop for the first time today! My co-worker suggested this place and it was a good choice. The atmosphere is really nice, kind of a modern twist on the peir vibe. The staff was very nice, and took the time to help me choose what to eat with some really good suggestions and explanations. Lost of open air seating, so a little brisk with the light wind today - I had my jacket on the entire time. I had a little bit of a hard time figuring out what I wanted to choose, as there were a lot of great options (Mahi Mahi, Red Snapper, Shrimp, Swordfish, I could go on but won't),. I ended up choosing the Fish Shop Shrimp and the Spicy Dorado Taco. My co-worker had a create-your-own taco and some onion rings. The portions were perfect, enough for a big guy like myself to be full and yet share a little (of the shrimp that is). I think the combination of the shrimp and taco were a little off, but that was my choice. The shrimp were chard, which was a little heavy with the taco to complement. Both very good, just not for me together. To top it all off, the price was pretty resonable, especially for the location. All in all, I will go here again.
I rate starts as folows: 1 - not good all around, 2 - some good value, but pretty commong and nothing stood out, 3 - a solid choice all around, 4 - one of my favorites or something a little more special/unique, 5 - a great experience all around and very unique for the area.
Great fish sandwich. And tasty, crunchy French fries
Beware of your eyes being bigger than your stomach. So much delicious food on the menu, so much delicious food on the plate. The clam chowder and crab cakes are meals by themselves.
Been here twice now and both meals were outstanding. Grilled swordfish tacos with the cajun spice and a cold Karl made for a perfect lunch!
