Bodega Brothers

Time and time again this place gets 5 stars from me. Especially this last trip. My husband and I are native NYers and moved here about two years ago. I grew up going to bodegas in the AM before school and getting my classic egg sammie and Arizona can. That’s the NY way. So when we found this spot we are absolutely over joyed. The sandwiches hit every time. This spot is consistent and delicious. During our last visit our order was incorrect. Upon finding this out the person helping me (I assume was one of the Bodega Brothers because he knew about NY area code) made it his mission to make everything right. I wasn’t even upset but was super kind and incredibly apologetic. He not only made me a fresh sandwich but he threw in some coffee and refunded part of my order for the error. Needless to say my jaw was on the floor. I have worked in the service industry for over a decade and to be treated with such amazing customer service is a gift. So if you’ve been on the fence about trying these guys out be like Nike and just do it! Thank you for remaking my sammie and hooking it up. I felt like I was back home again. Spread love it’s the Brooklyn way after all.

Worth whatever drive you have to make. I go 30 minutes one way as often as I can to eat here. Best breakfast sandwich in San Diego!

We ordered the chopped cheese and potatoe cones. All this hype about the chopped cheese on the east coast I mean how could I not order it. It was good, however would I order it again ? Probably not. Don’t get me wrong the sandwich wasn’t bad ,but I thought it was pretty small and honestly it had a hamburger helper taste (which I’m not knocking , I grew up on that stuff. I was just excited cause ppl always talk about a chopped cheese being something insane, I understand we’re not in a bodega in Harlem, but it being the closet thing we got that’s the impression I now have of the infamous “Chopped cheese.”) I see they have different sandwiches and personally I would probably opt for those. What I absolutely loved though we’re the potatoe Scones, those were seasoned and yummy. I would definitely get those bad boys again.

Love the ghost kitchen concept. The sausage bagel was really good! There’s a tiny seating area out front.
