We have eaten here twice and everything was so delicious. First time we dined in and enjoyed the Peking duck, orange chicken, Singapore noodles, salt and pepper chicken and egg rolls. Second time we had takeout and opted for the Broccoli beef, mapo tofu, fried rice and spicy string beans. Every was delicious.

This is one of the few Shanghainese restaurants available in SD. We came on the first day of its opening. This restaurant used to open in a different location but was closed during COVID. Now that it reopens and it is really popular. There was a long wait list for lunch on the weekend.
However, there can be rooms for improvement. First, the food was not served fast enough. It appears the restaurant may be short of staff. Our soy milk was not served until we asked after many dishes were served..Water as well and it was not the way we asked (without ice).
The food quantity is not good but the price is not the best. Tastes are okay. As a Shanghainese, some food is authentic but I cannot speak to all of the food on the menu.

If I recommend a Shanghai restaurant in SD, I would recommend Tasty Noodle House in Convoy.

We went the second day it was open and the food was great…. The service was a little slow but since it just opened it was to be expected. We would definitely come back

I stopped in on Friday, August 12, and was pleasantly surprised to be greeted in a very friendly manner and able to order takeout. They hadn't even had their official soft opening yet. We tried the cream cheese wontons, walnut shrimp, sweet-and-sour pork and cashew chicken. All were absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back and very glad to have some good Chinese food so close to home. Welcome to the neighborhood, Chef Zhu!
Also the atmosphere inside looks very nice and look forward to dining in next time.

Soft opening today (August 12, 2023). Some of the items on the weekend Chinese breakfast menu are not available, yet.
