Saw the reviews on Facebook, had to try. Black owned, soul food gem located in southeast San Diego. I wasn't disappointed. They offer a vast variety of scrumptious food items. Fried fish/shrimp, turkey legs, crab cakes, gumbo, seafood boils, red velvet cake, bread pudding.. just to name a few items. The crab cake sandwich, seafood cake and fried shrimp were delicious. All food are made fresh upon ordering. Large, generous lump crab cake... delicious seafood (crab, shrimp, crawfish) cake... $16 each. The old bay mayo and Cajun sauce are the perfect accent. You must try the pecan bourbon bread pudding, the glaze is sooo good. I warmed it when I got home and it melted in my mouth, just like grandma. Great customer service. Reasonable prices. Generous portion sizes. Will definitely be returning in the near near future.

It's not often that you find good food here in San Diego. Especially soul food. And you know that's not just me being mean to people. It's really almost impossible. But this place is freaking amazing. The lady that runs it is so nice. The prices are very decent. The portions are large. The food is seasoned! Do you hear me?! It's seasoned! You don't get that a lot here. Anyway you can text her and place your order ahead of time if you want. She takes Zelle, cashapp, and I dunno what else, sorry. If you go to her Instagram you can see photos of many of her dishes. And let me tell you she's using quality ingredients. Ingredients you can tell just by the taste and the texture and how fresh it is! So we got the catfish platter that comes with fries and coleslaw. We got the fried chicken soul bowl which comes with fried chicken, black eyed peas, rice, and greens. We got gumbo. We got beignets and we got bourbon pecan bread pudding. Everything was so good. The one thing that we didn't like was the fried chicken and that's because it was a little bit too salty. But everything else was absolutely perfect. I have never had a bread pudding that I liked before. But when I tell you that I'm willing to fight the rest of my family over the spread pudding? I'm ready to throw hands if they even look at it. It's so good and buttery and the texture is nice and not mushy. The coleslaw is what KFC wishes they were. There's something that's a little bit spicy in it and it's just so good. The greens are seasoned so freaking amazingly. The catfish is seasoned and fried to perfection. My daughter loves the beignets. We are obviously, definitely coming back here again!
