My second visit to Menya Ultra was just as impressive as the first. I enjoyed a delicious bowl of ramen paired with their crispy and flavorful fried chicken. The consistent excellence of their food combined with top-notch service makes it a must-visit. Looking forward to returning!
Overall, we loved it. The drinks and food came out very quickly. It actually surprised me. Great, great atmosphere and treatment, and also very good food. Don’t leave without trying the fried ice cream (Sorry for the bite, couldn’t help it). We ordered the Tanta Men and the Spicy Miso Ramen with egg. We will repeat.
Ramen and fried chicken were pretty good and served very quickly which I appreciated!
One snag was related to their ordering/billing system (menu, order, and tab are all done online). The system confused my groups tab and added a dish we never received. Their server and manager had to get involved, and I am grateful they eventually did correct & refund us. Did take a frustrating amount of time to remedy though
I’ve been visiting Menya for many many years. I noticed they’ve downsize the bowls, glad the Ramen was delicious. What really disappointed me is the new QR code ordering/paying method. Why change the classic-traditional method? It was perfect!! You guys had something unique and amazing! I would love to see the old ordering and paying method return to Menya! It’s a big disappointment. Now the service is nonexistent and at the end of the bill you will be charged 15% for a service fee!! Is this how you guys treat loyal customers? What service?? When I had to order everything through my phone and my water was never refilled! I should be the one getting the 15% service fee. Also cash is NO longer accepted, terrible. We will not be back!
This is a ramen restaurant from Japan that has locations in San Diego.
The tonkotsu ramen was fantastic, 100% traditional and authentic. That was our favorite, flavorful broth, good portion sizes, good noodles, lots of options for toppings, highly recommend.
We also tried the tantan ramen w black sesame, but we’ve never had that type of ramen before, so I don’t have a staple to compare it with. It was OK, I wasn’t too much into the flavor, so it’s nothing I’d try again. But you might think otherwise!!
They add a 15% surcharge to all checks and they encourage no tipping ( the last part is very typical Japanese).
There’s a nice sake selection offered, and the green tea was also like the one I’ve had in Japan!
We didn’t encounter a wait for mid week dinner dining.
