gyukatsu is the best item on the menu. you cook deep fried wagyu steak how you like it on a small grill on your table. everything here tastes like something you would have in Japan. there was no one else in the restaurant when we came on a Monday evening. perfect if you came back from a vacation in Japan and miss eating the food!
Excellent service - checked on us a good amount of times (not too many not too little) & polite.
Love the intimate atmosphere - the lighting and booths remind me of when I went to Japan
Food - got the wagyu gyukatsu which is one of the best foods I ate in Japan (only second to Ichiran Ramen) and it was similar. Got a good amount of food for the $23 - miso soup rice salad sauces and pickled goodies.
My wife got the donkotsu ramen - quality and taste as good as any other legit ramen place.
Forgot to add the price wasn’t super expensive which is definitely a plus for the quality.
First time here. We ordered black garlic and spicy miso ramen which we love. We ordered wagyu, chicken liver, and beef tongue yakitori but it was a little salty for us. We like the ambiance, the service, and the food despite the little saltiness of the yakitori. Overall it still a good experience and we're definitely coming back.
Downside: hard to find parking even though we came on a weekday.
We learned about this place not too long and we heard that the owners of Olleh (KBBQ & Sushi) opened this place, so we knew we had to try it out. And first off, we are coming back to try the rest of the menu! 💯👏🏽 From the drinks (ordered wine & beer) to appetizers to skewers to the donburi, it was all impeccable, tasteful and big fan of the interior design as well, which is a mix of traditional and modern style. We ordered the wine pork belly, wagyu, gyu don, agedashi tofu, shishito peppers, chicken thigh with green onions, rice & sausage skewers, and the smoked salmon carpaccio. The customer service was so genuine, kind, and meticulous. Overall, a great experience and we hope to be regulars!
This is now one of my favorite kushiyaki places in San Diego. Customer service was great despite being a lunch rush. Food quality was excellent from the chicken to the bacon to the beef. Zero complaints here! Small location but it’s cozy.
