Hands down some of the best Korean food I’ve ever had! All of the soups, bulgogi, kimchi, kalbi, really excellent! Also, the owner has been here two of the past times we’ve been here and she is really welcoming and hospitable. Highly recommend, very long wait times on weekend nights so just be prepared for that.
This was an amazing dining experience. The food and service were so exceptional. I love that the owner is the front of house supervisor. It’s so hard to find quality food and service these days, so this restaurant was very impressive.
Food is delicious! Every plate was phenomenal. The service is super quick too. We will be back for more.
Yuk Dae Jang has quickly become my husband and I's favorite Korean restaurant in San Diego! We're so glad that they opened down here - I moved down from the Bay Area and have been really missing good Korean food. :)
We love their yukgaejang with custommade ramen as well as their bossam. The ramen noodle texture is soft and chewy - *muah* chef's kiss along with great flavor from the yukgaejang stew. They don't skimp out on any of the ingredients! The bossam was also amazing - they provide lots of small side dishes to go with it, and while it doesn't come with oyster like many other bossam spots, the flavor, quality, and quantity were great. To give you a sense of portions, my husband and I ordered a bossam (medium size) and a yukgaejang, and we finished the bossam with some yukgaejang left to take home. I've come another time with a girl friend and we nearly finished a shared bossam (small size) and yukgaejang.
My only disclaimer is that if you come around typical meal times, you need put your name down to get on the list (they don't have a Yelp waitlist) and will likely have to wait a while. I've been there for both lunch and dinner around 11:45am and 6:15pm respectively. Both times they said that the wait would be around 30-40 minutes, and it ended up taking about an hour. Thankfully they have outdoor seating where you can wait, or you can grab some boba or groceries nearby. The staff was very apologetic for the wait when we got in, and the service was great once we sat down.
Parking here is great - there's a big parking lot right outside the restaurant, so you don't have to worry about it as much compared to Convoy. The place is also very clean and a great spot for dinner conversation.
Overall, it's a solid addition to the San Diego food scene and we will be back quite often. :)
The taste of Yukgaejang was thick and had a very tasty base that was not spicy. In particular, it went very well with kalguksu noodles, and the side dishes that came with it were also good. Personally, the kimchi dumplings were the most delicious dumplings I've ever eaten. It is recommended to visit early because the waiting is long.
