Very unique place. We got a coffee, ham&cheese croissant, and some organic produce. They had just reopened from Covid (May 23). Owner was super friendly and helpful. We will definitely stop by when we go through Solana Beach.
Very cool place, one of a kind for sure! Bring a date, just the kids, or even the dog to take in the sumptuous ingredients and true north county alfresco vibe. Husband & wife owners operators are truly progressive in their vision of food and drinks. Cheers all around!
Bakery meets Brunch meets Coffee here at Homestead in Solana Beach, and they execute on all three of those things quite well.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
You'll miss Homestead if you're not looking for it, but if you're in the neighborhood you should be looking for it. You've got a cute little atmosphere staffed by top notch folks, and the food and coffee come out quick as they burn through what are increasingly longer lines. Star.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
I was seeking out a signature ingredient on Homestead's menu, and after reading the menu a few times over it was clear to me at least that the Braised Beef Short Rib was that signature item. I landed on the sandwich, and for $14.00 that was a good deal. Star.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
For starters I'll point out that my Chai Latte was excellent, so Homestead certainly checks the beverage box. From there this was a good sandwich. You had all the right fresh ingredients in the mix, some colorful potato chips, and my only complaint was that the Short Rib itself was on the greasy side. Single Star.
Star 5: Would you be excited to go back?
Homestead will do well, and I'd be excited to go back. Star.
Tucked away and a little out of sight, this little cafe has a quiet and beautiful atmosphere and a wonderful selection of savory and sweet breakfast items.
This place prides itself on quality ingredients and friendly service with indoor and outdoor patio sitting that will have you forgetting that you're "in town".
When this place was Lockwood Table it was also rather delicious in food and atmosphere and we were very sad when it closed down.
We're super please that homestead has picked up the mantle and is keeping the spirit of taste and quality food
I usually go for the burritos here, but every sandwich we've tried is delicious, eggs taste Pasteur raised. They're root veggies are spot on and the GF waffle is one of the best waffles in North county (gf or not).
Excellent farm to table breakfast. Haven’t been to lunch but looking forward to that also. I used to come to space before when it was Lockwood and am so grateful it is still a similar vibe. So friendly and excellent food, coffee. Locally sourced, whenever I see Chinos Farm ingredients I know I found good spot.
Was so quiet and peaceful on a busy Sunday morn while all other brunch spots were busy. An oasis, off the beaten path just enough.
