Best restaurant for formal dining for Christmas if we decorate it for the holiday when it’s time to celebrate

When you need to step away from the everyday typical fast food joints and the atmosphere that comes with it, Mel's Diner is the place to be. A place where the food is not only great but the service as well. Back to the days of personal and attentive service while enjoying your meal by one self or with family and friends without feeling in a rush. Not to mention the best fries in town in my opinion.

First time in USA and San Francisco from The Netherlands. Also the first place we ate. I loved the food. It was very tasty. Not salty like some burgers. We got good and fast help. Loved the cherry coke! We reccommend this place!

Food is delicious. Service is wonderful. Clean and such a fun place to go out to eat!!

We ate here twice over a three day stay in SF, mainly because it was across the street from our hotel. It's diner food, but very good diner food. Super friendly service...cool atmosphere. For two people, don't expect to spend less than $50 for a meal in SF, and this hit right around $50 for us both to eat, both times. In other words, just because it is a diner, don't expect a bargain. Three stars because it was good food and decent service, but not great, and I reserve 5 stars for must-visit restaurants.
