Place was a bit rundown. The tea was out and the water discolored.
Solid place for tasty Cantonese desserts or snacks, like buttered toast, sago, instant noodles with spam, and popcorn chicken. Each dessert is around $4~$8. Don’t come with a large group, or you’ll be waiting for a really long time. The service is poor, but I don’t really blame the staff. This joint feels more like a simple hangout spot than a restaurant or cafe. It helps if you can speak Mandarin or Cantonese.
Mango sago to-go is the best item. When they put the dessert in a cup with a straw, you get a much more blended flavor when you’re drinking it.
Dessert was pretty good. Ordered the hot dessert sampler and the grape fruit with mango sago.
A local boba tea establishment in my neighborhood also has lots of other kinds of sweet treats and goodies. I had the coconut milk which was completely delicious; really strong coconut taste with icy slush to complement it. My wife had the green tea ice cream which was also very good. Usually this place is packed with lots of schoolkids from the area. On this day they were not as busy so we were afforded much time to enjoy the ambiance. They also offered us hot tea in addition to what we ordered. Will definitely go back for the coconut milk if not something else on the menu.
Really nice place to stop for a drink. It has a nice variety of drinks, mostly Asian teas, but also milkshakes and coffee. Prices are fair for the portions and service is great.
IMPORTANT: they DON'T take credit/debt cards in bills under 20 dollars.
