Gary Danko

We visited Restaurant Gary Danko for the first time in January. We wanted a corner table so took a seat at the bar until one opened up. The bar list of imaginative cocktails is extensive and very interesting. They have one or more specialty drinks for every liquor and a very extensive list of all the standard liquors. The restaurant is very attractive with 2 small dining rooms with very effective use of copper-backed mirrors to give the illusion of larger spaces. The menu, although somewhat limited, has great choices for every course (appetizers, pastas and fish and meat). The menu only offers prix-fixe options, but they have 3,4 and 5 course options. Portions are good sized. The food is elegantly served, beautifully presented and delicious. The cheese cart is very impressive in its variety and number of choices. We brought our own wine, so I did not review the wine list. For dessert we had the Grand Marnier scuffle. Excellent.

To say that the food was great is an understatement. It was fabulous! you find a lot these days.Not too noisy so that you can effectively have a conversation.

Service was outstanding. Food was very good, but not quite what I would expect from a Michelin Star restaurant. Portion size was generous. Cocktails were very good. Would like to rate higher, but it is not quite 5 star.

My boyfriend and I came here about a year ago and I think it was worth every penny. Great food, great wine and great service! Definitely a must when you visit San Francisco. I was hoping to come back next month but the only available time for reservations is at 9pm. Living in the east coast, I think that is too late for us. I’m going to try to call them and see if we can be squeezed in. We had a very good time here. Gary Danko did not fail us. A true Michelen restaurant! Hope you can accommodate us on 2/24!

If you dine one place in SF this is it! Though I've been many times I've never been disappointed! There is some kinda magic food voodoo there with fantastic sauces and taste buds popping mixtures. Creative florals and classic modernism fine decor is the perfect ambiance. Attentive staff that is both refined and casual. The lobster appetizer is a classic must!!
