Really good breakfast at the bar. Honest flavors and ingredients. Good place for dinner with varied entrees from Italian to Thai flavors, all done well. Prices have risen but it's still a good deal for San Francisco.
It may be small and cramped during peak hours but the bartenders are great and the silver palm next door tends to be less crowded if you want a more cozy atmosphere. The vegetarian options for food are pretty good and I enjoy the whiskey options! Its a neat place to talk to new people and its even got a great laid back atmosphere in the early evening for a drink with a friend.
Excellent burger on super fresh baguette roll.
A bit pricey at fifteeen and you must pay for cheese whether you want it or not. That's the only reason for less than 5 stars. I don't enjoy being ripped off. The food is excellent. Many families with small kids so the noise level is somewhat high.
Cool atmosphere. Super attentive, friendly service. I had the rock shrimp tacos, which were really good.
My old review from 2017 below. Here is the 2018 review:
Chow has lost some of its allure. Dropping from 5 to 4 stars. Portions seems substantially smaller, and prices higher. Were we wowed by service? Not particularly. Maybe we have to try again. But it's not seeming like the "old Chow." Who's running this place now?
2017 Review: I love Chow. We used to live in the neighborhood for years. My husband and I always come here for our Anniversary dinner. The food's still great, reasonably priced, and the staff friendly and accommodating. If ya haven't been here yet, make it a point to visit to enjoy what Chow has to offer!
