Good place for a two-person dinner. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of space and there is almost always a wait to get in. But if you put your name and phone number in at the door, you can take a nice walk along Clement Street while you wait. For first-timers, try the tea leaf salad to start. The vegetarian options are very good.
Came to this restaurant on someones recommendation. Menu sounded strange, so we were apprehensive.Told to order the Tea Leaf Salad, and we did. Ingredients sounded very strange. Did not look appealing when it was brought out, but better after server prepared and tossed it. This was the best salad I have ever had. Every bite has a different taste with each ingredient you get, and all ingredients will be tasted, not just mashed together. It is clearly a party in your mouth. Every plate we saw being served looked delicious, but I think this is the clear winner.
I feel like I say this about a lot of restaurants, but this food was spectacular. We tried the lettuce cups, the flour noodles in chicken curry sauce (I can't remember what they were called), and the goat curry. We also got coconut rice and the bread on the side. The pork that comes with the lettuce cups was so nice and peppery with crunchy vegetables throughout. The noodles had such a variety of flavors and I couldn't stop eating them. The service here could have been a lot better, but the food made it worth it.
Great Burma food.
Very well done. Use of authentic spices and we'll executed. Will recommend the tea salad, but not so the garlic prawns - just not that special. The issue is the wait. Make sure you put your name on yelp.
Popular for a reason. Service is good despite how busy they are. Just wish the waits are more reasonable (easily 1-2h)
Have lived in SF more than 20 years but never tried Burma Superstar. Wow! I’ve really been missing out. A nice vibe with great food. Fresh flavors. Friendly service. Very clean environment. Two thumbs way up!
