Small Chinese restaurant own by nice older Chinese couple. 1st time ordered chicken w/ garlic sauce spicy over rice big portion under $9 looks fantastic with a lot of sliced chicken breast and veggies. Gave 4 stars bc sauce is sweeter than normal otherwise 5.

Doesn't look like much but the food is very, very good. And Lily was a super nice host.
    It feels like China!

This hole in the wall Chinese food spot is my favorite of all the Chinese restaurants in the Richmond. Probably because I don't know what to order at the higher $ places, but why spend more when Hunan Cafe #2 consistently delivers excellent and hardy Chinese food at very affordable prices. The lady who runs the customer facing side is very sweet and I've enjoyed every interaction with her. I just wish it was across the street!

Some of the best Chinese food I've had ever. General Tso's (Cho's) was well sauced, crispy beef was nice and crispy, green beans were very flavorful, eggplant was nice and purple, scallion pancakes where like pizza's! We had a wonderful time with out family.

To the group of 3 who left after not getting service tonight...If I was you, I'd write a bad review on Google Maps. I hope you don't take it personally and maybe give the place another chance sometime. I felt bad for you and wanted to offer you some of our green onion pancakes. Just so you know - it's not always like that. I go there often enough and the lady working there also knows my friend who was with me and they speak the same dialect of Chinese. We actually had to wait much longer than usual even for tea and a longer than usual wait for her to return to take the order I know there was only our table and yours, but it seemed like an unusually busy night with the endless call-ins. She told us how she works 7 days with no days off, and it's so busy sometimes she can't get to all the takeout calls or tables. The owners claim hiring extra help would require them to raise prices while the cost of meat and produce getting higher. I'm not sure who owns Hunan Cafe #1 and #2 but am pretty sure that working employees like this is not legal. I'd be willing to pay a little more for my meal if they hired a part-time person to help take orders during the busy time. We know that this lady is usually very attentive and friendly, always remembers what we like to order, the food is delicious and affordable.
