With how popular Thai food is around here, I’m shocked I haven’t tried a BYO (build your own) concept with this cuisine until now. I had a bunch of Basil the Bold’s menu items for pickup and loved all of them. Like with many other BYO spots, I was expecting the flavors to be dumbed down a bit, but I was pleasantly surprised at how bold everything was. It definitely lived up to the name.
The heat level is customizable, from “no chili” up to “bold”, and you can add on XX Hot Fried Chili too. I’m not vegan, but I enjoyed the vegan options as well. The crispy tofu in the vegan Larb the Laotian was my favorite of all the dishes.
I also loved the crispy chicken with the tempura batter. The chewy noodles I had in my BYO bowl was nicely al dente. The side salads were super fresh, and the Tum the Thai (som tum papaya salad) is also vegan itself. You can get real deal fish sauce on the side.
I picked up my order directly at the ghost kitchen location, and they are also on the delivery apps. The wait was a bit long, but it’s new and just a one woman team right now.
I didn’t try any of the sandwiches yet (made with Acme Banh Mi Bread), that will be my lunch soon!
Had the BYO Sandwich - Crispy Deluxe with Hearty Deluxe Protein. One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had by far. Very unique from flavors and what was in it. The tofu was crisped to perfection and the fried chicken was fantastic. Mixed with a great selection of sauces and herbs too. Really good portion sizing for the price too.
Definitely will be coming back again. Thanks for the great food! :D
I loved my bowl and the staff was so friendly! Will definitely be ordering again
