One of the best Chinese restaurants in my area. I just loved their food taste. They often keep offers for everyday lunch, I go whenever I get the opportunity to have lunch outside. Their foods are really delicious Especially choosable for the rice item.
This place deserves all the praise in the world. There wasn't a single dish ordered here that didn't blow us away. As a Malaysian, I crave authentic Cantonese cuisine often. I'm dismayed by American Chinese food(sorry!) and I'm usually disappointed by the Cantonese options I check out. Chef Yu out in the Mission is like a diamond in the rare. I'll go out of my way just to get here and have a taste of that roast duck(don't imagine it, just order). Now, he's a lonely chef in there and if you're coming here you can expect food service to be a little slow. Believe me, the wait is worth it and service staff so warm, it makes you forgive and forget. I've been here twice already and totally recommend!
I just moved to San Francisco from Singapore, where going out to have good Cantonese food is always a family tradition. While I appreciate some elements of Americanized Chinese food (egg rolls? Mandarin orange chicken? Singapore noodles?), I still crave homey Cantonese food most of the time.
I was delighted to discover this place in Excelsior. Even though I don’t live anywhere remotely near it, we come here.. a lot. My parents came to visit and ate here most days, appreciating the well-priced lunch meals with good quality ingredients.
For my wife and I, we love the roast duck, wat tan hor and claypot tofu with bbq pork. The stir fry gai lan / Chinese broccoli with garlic, though it sounds plain, is delicious and showcases what good Cantonese is about. Fresh ingredients and great skills.
Many Chinese restaurants in the US lack the “wok hei” that one expects from items cooked over high heat. This place is, happily, full of it. Which makes its food exactly like what I need it to be. Thank you Chef Yu, wish you all the best in this new business!
Good food. Good service. Good price. Definitely come back.
