Original Joe’s Westlake

Somehow, we randomly ended up here as our Valentines evening date. Neither of us have ever been to this location although I have been to the North Beach location. Westlake was just as great but we were both very impressed by the remodel with the ambiance and decor. This is Italian comfort food as it finest and anyone who lives in the Bay Area should come here once and experience a classic.

The spaghetti and meatballs were excellent, great depth and richness to the marinara and they do include 3 meatball, huge plus. She got the pot roast which was equally as good but she sent the cream spinach back. I agree, it really didn't look that great. The cocktail menu has all the classic and the wine list isn't too robust but the pricing on a bottle fits any budget. Unexpectedly, the perfect Valentines evening.

Original Joe's Westlake is on of my favorite restaurants whenever I visit the Bay area! The staff (from hostess, to waiters to helpers) are always super friendly and nice. They are truly some of the nicest people around! The food is simply delicious and yummy! They have a wide variety of dishes, from comfort favorites, to healthy, to rich and fabulous! Desserts are another favorite. You just can't go wrong! They have a full bar and plenty of wines as well. It's beautiful, clean and comfy! You have to give them a try....I guarantee you'll be back for more!

The food here was delicious. The wait was not too bad for a busy Sunday. The wait for us was about 30 to 40 minutes, but it was worth the friendly, courteous staff that gave plenty attention for refills and patience when my mom was trying to decide on what to order. The food was delicious! I had a rib eye steak cooked medium rare and it was so juicy and hot when it came out. The clam chowder was yummy as well as the appetizing fried calamari. Will be going back for most future celebrations.

I was there with some friends to celebrate my birthday, and we were not disappointed. I feel nowadays wherever you go if your group is more than 8 people, service becomes a little uncertain. It could be either great or sloppy. I'm glad the service here was top of the line. Our waitress was very focused and checking on us constantly, refilling our beverages and the order came as requested. Kudos to her and all of the staff. The food was great, fresh and flavorful. One comment I would have is that it is not kid friendly. This is definitely a good spot for date night or friends night out.

The staff and service are excellent. The food is delicious. The atmosphere - it's fantastic! I love the way they were able to incorporate the feel of the old place, but clean it up and modernize just enough. The 3 stars is because, for the price, I feel like you get more value at Boulevard, just up the street.

Still, the ambience is what you come for, and for that, I would give Joe's 5 stars :-)
