The Tavern

We were seated outside, then we're told they wouldn't serve us their famous burger outside. But they also informed us we could get it in a to-go box then bring it outside. What kind of a crazy rule is that? So we went inside... Burger was good, french fries were awesome, and shrimp was pricey but tasty. Cool atmosphere inside but I would rather be dining outside on a gorgeous day like it was.

Incredible renovation of a historic property. They nailed the design and we are thrilled they are in town. Chef Rhoda is incredible and the staff is warm and welcoming. We love Felix's for breakfast, the bar for cozy evenings and the main dining area to enjoy a healthy, fresh dinner. Welcome to the neighborhood!

This place used to be one of my favorites. That was back when the Brothers ran it (they moved just a couple miles away at the Barn). After being closed for years it was reopened in the last months. I was hoping for the best. The food is just OK. Nothing special, strange spices being used. No small meat dishes to complement the veggies. No, I won't spend $165 for a gigantic steak. The service was slow and unfriendly. I asked to be seated at a table by the windows. I was told those are reserved for hotel patrons. Then spent the entire meal watching those tables stay empty.

I'm sure there are ultra rich patrons willing to spend a ton to stay at this "resort", but it's not me. Good luck to this place. I'm sad to see it like this.

Very enjoyable first time at the new Mattei's. The service both in the lounge and restaurant was excellent. I really love the contrast between the darker cozier lounge and the more open and bright dining room. Many of the dishes we had were outstanding. The sea trout and the chicken were both particularly good. The souffle was outstanding. We'll be back!
