Old diner feeling. Fresh baked goods. Great prices and portions. Food was awesome. Reminded me of my Grandmas cookin. I enjoyed every bite.
Service and personable interaction has always been HP's flagship qualities in my opinion.
It has a wide variety of selections to choose from, so go in early to get a head start. There are TVs to keep you updated on the news and weather, or that part of the basketball game to keep you from missing out. You have choice of booth or counter. And the atmosphere is always warm. Oh! And if you have a gang with you that would fit more appropriately in a private room, the 'Hickory Pit' can accommodate you there too.
The good: Delicious food. Fast, friendly service. Good selection as long as you are not a vegetarian but if you are why are you going to a BBQ resteraunt? Prices are OK not cheap but not ridiculous. Portions are well sized. Good family atmosphere.
The bad: Bathrooms could use some attention. Paper towels are always empty and there is a smell. Over time this smell has not gone away.
The Hickory Pit was an intriguing establishment. My wife and I ordered a meal of tri-tip to share and found it to be delicious. The meat was melt in your mouth tender, the side of Cole slaw was huge-- much to my delight since I love it. We lingered for an extra hour while we waited for the appointment time to arrive. The staff treated us with caring as we got some work done during the hour. We highly recommend it.
The almond pastry is to die for, and their daily soup is worth coming back to enjoy again. Looking forward to return and sample foods on the tantalizing menu. So far, service could be a bit better. Then it will be 5 star.
