This place used to be "Pho 909". It's not the same without its original name as I've been going here for over 20 years. The foods still Vietnamese but not as good as before, in my own opinion and many of traditional dishes are no longer there. Service is typical, credit cards are accepted.
Tasty foods. Clean. Friendly staffs.
The high rating is commensurate with the quality of the food. I had the Hoang Van Special rice noodle soup and it was large and very tasty. My wife had the Hoang Van Special Beef noodle pho and she enjoyed it as well.
I'm an ABC and don't know that much about Vietnamese food, but I eat it a lot because my mother is from Vietnam. We like to come here and eat the crepes and noodle bowls. The lai fun is amazing. The soups are always well constructed from delicate flavours and a joy to eat. The service is incredible; my mother makes special requests when she brings friends, and they remember the sometimes complicated arrangements she asks for. They are also super generous; every dish is spilling over with nice ingredients. The garnish plate of vegetables we got was like a mountain. The crepe was crammed with little shrimp.
Well, well, well...
A newcomer. The new kid on the block...a new Pho spot!
Just in case you didn't get the jest...this place is NEW!
What an amazing performance by a rookie! Best one I saw...so far!
The food here is brilliant. Pho Hoang Van is clean, spacious, welcoming with a friendly staff and has some mighty tasty food! I was warmly greeted by a lady when I first came in, which was a pleasant change...if you are a regular at Pho spots you know what I'm talking about. Although, I must admit, it is getting better...like way better than before. Then there is the friendly gentleman that took my order, might be the owner or the manager...cheery o'l chap, came across as polite, friendly and genuine.
I usually get the standard beef combination Pho. This time I wanted to try something a bit different. So, I opted for the Hoang Van Special Egg Noodle Soup. I liked the thought of the unique house specials, where you can get the soup on the side with dry noodles. The soup had some amazing flavor, not too salty, nor did it taste like it was drenched in MSG. Just brilliant; the delicate balance of soft boiled Quail eggs, a quaint amount of shallots for flavor and a hint of parsley accompanied by a couple of Shrimp.
Then there was the rest of the dish; the dry noodles! The noodles were amazing, definitely dry...but perfectly done! I couldn't figure out how they did the noodles...fried? No, not quite, I didn't think it was oily. Boiled, steamed maybe...not too sure. I just know they were great. The presentation was outstanding as well. I wasn't prepared for the fried chip with the Shrimp bound with cheese I think...delish!! I was also a big fan of the Garlic and herbs that accompanied the noodles. I think they fried or roasted the Garlic, PHOnomenal! I only wish there was more beef in the bowl, but I'm not so sure if they could fit much more in there...lol.
On my way out I saw a table with some ladies having crepes of all sorts. Can't wait to return and try all of them!
