Accidentally visited this place while waiting for the food I ordered from a food truck in front of it. The staff told me they just opened and he was very friendly. I ordered a vegetable puff here and it was very tasty. He was considerate enough to allow me to eat the food I ordered outside with the puff in their restaurant. The only thing I hope they can do better is make the restroom cleaner. Overall this place is worth visiting.
This place is definitely worth visiting! It was great to finally have some Kolkata food in the Bay area. The phuchka (pani puri) and chicken puff were amazing! The biriyani isn't exactly like the one you get in Kolkata but still it's one of my favorite in the bay area. Would definitely go again and try other items!
Had a great time…🤩🤩 Awesome place for food,Chaat and lots of Bengali dishes..Great place for a small gossip with your friends and a sip of pure Bengali chai(tea)…They’re serving all different mouth watering Indian chaat, panipuri,Bapi’s special jhaal muri and egg rolls that we all have been seeking for. It’s memorized me Kolkata’s narrow and busy street where we used to wait for your turn to comes…Here we don’t have to wait, although this place is newly open but they’re providing you the best service…I’ll definitely come back again with my family and friends need to try all other items that I missed.
Tried the new restaurant Calcutta Chaat and Bakery today . The restaurant is getting started , hence the processes may not be that streamlined. However, I believe the main reason for a restaurant visit is the food and that had been awesome.
The Biriyanis had typical Kolkata flavors. High on flavor , with the smell of potato and low on the spice . The rolls were equally tasty. Looking forward to future visits as the restaurant matures itself and start serving Bengali food to the diversity crowd of bay area.
This may be their first review on google. It is just been a week I guess since their opening. I was already pumped to try their street king egg roll when they announced their opening through various local social media groups. As of now you have to go to the place and order there. They don't pick up phone for takeout orders - called them for two days and went in person the third day - they say they are very busy in kitchen so didn't take phone orders. Their website is still not ready for online orders, so just drive or try to call, may be you can get lucky. I drove long miles just to learn that they stopped serving coffee house sandwich ( which I saw getting served right in front of my eyes, it is sad, may be that was last order :( I guess ).
The egg roll was ok , did not get the taste of the egg as I was overpowered by the salad and some strong onion and chutney spice. I was left with a taste of salad wrapped in a flat bread. It was not heavy or oily which is a plus.
Will wait for some more reviews to pour in and then may be will revisit back in couple of months
