    In A Nutshell:

-Vit Dong Que, which translates to Countryside Duck or close to it, is a great Vietnamese restaurant that serves everything...duck (vit).
-When you come here, you should always order the 1/2 duck salad & the duck noodle soup.
-You'll be more than fulfilled & both dishes combined offer a nice meal for two.
-The food tastes just as good to-go as it does while dining in, so you're good regardless.

Overall, the service is always humble & friendly. Great duck restaurant!

Great food, cash only. Parking can be tough, but you can park in the adjacent lot for the Grand Century Mall and walk over.

My son's friend's family owns this great Vietnamese restaurant. We have eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants and you think that they are all similar. Vit Dong Que is unique. They are known for their duck. I ordered the combo with duck (sliced), salad, and porridge. You are suppose to use the fish sauce mix on your salad. The sauce is delicious. I added some of my tasty duck in my porridge. A thicker, sweeter dipping sauce is for the duck. I wish the porridge was thicker and that there was soy sauce on the table to use a little in my porridge, but there isn't soy sauce on the tables. We ordered the chicken wings appetizer- now this is absolutely delicious covered with a sweet chili sauce. We also ate the banana leaf appetizer with shrimp, pork, and tapioca. This was good, but we really wanted the other banana leaf appetizer (they ran out). My hubby and son each ordered a duck and a chicken vermicelli soup which they enjoyed. The service is excellent. The only negative comment I have is that someone opened the back door and cigarette smoke came in. My family cannot stand cigarette smoke. This place is cash only. There is no ATM inside. You have to go next door to get cash.

Great soup, duck and salad combination very filling. If you want to try something new and other than pho I would definitely recommend this place.

Although the bun bo hue is disappointing here, there are plenty of stars in the menu. I recommend the following:
    1) banh beo: it was too easy to inhale the many small servings of shrimpy, crispy, steamed goodness with nuoc mam
    2) banh bot loc: shrimp and pork encased in translucent tapioca, and wrapped in banana leaves. The texture of freshly steamed banh bot loc is unbelievably addicting.
    3) canh ga chien nuoc mam: chicken wings marinated in fish sauce and lightly fried
4)bun vit nau chao: vermicelli with duck in a fermented tofu soup base. The thick umami broth, is unexpectedly one of my favorites. It has a different flavor profile compared to miso and I found that it really complements the duck.
    5) goi vit: regardless of which size you order, the portion is very generous. The duck is cooked amazingly well.
6)Phan bung man: vermicelli noodles soup with giblets. Despite its unassuming appearance, do not hesitate to order this. The soup is astoundingly flavorful, perhaps the most delicious clear soup I have yet to encounter.

It is a rather small restaurant and is frequently busy on the evenings on the weekend. Aside from the fantastic food, the staff is exceptionally and genuinely kind.
