We've been going to Sony cafe for ever, and always loved their Vietnamese sandwiches, egg rolls and iced coffees.
So we're were quite surprised this time that it was a new owner. We decided to give it a try and order our usual sandwiches and egg rolls to go. We're were not disappointed. They were delicious! So I highly recommend this place. We'll try their other inside food soon.
Now if I could offer some suggestions. First we would prefer the egg rolls (they are excellent!!) with a little bit of lettuce and mint or cilantro and Nuoc Cham dipping sauce instead of the sweet chili sauce. Also we can only drink decaf coffees. Sony had the decaf option for their iced coffees and they were excellent.
In any case we love this new place.
First time trying this place and what really caught my eyes is the banh xeo. Not all places make it and not well. Safe to say it did not disappoint!! Pho not pictured but the broth was flavorful. I also didn't leave this place smelling like pho, which I appreciated. The workers, probably owners were all so friendly and attentive. Will be back to try the other food! Been eyeing the birds nest kind of dish. Yums!
Must try their pho the flavors was so authentic.
The portions are AMAZING for the price. I ordered a grilled chicken banh mi and it came with a side of potato chips plus a soda. Not to mention, the banh mi itself is A FOOT LONG. Could have it for breakfast and lunch if you have a small appetite. It all came out to $10.50 before tax of course. It’s a steal compared to local shops in SJ who sell sandwiches as well.
