Ordered the Mentai Cream Sauce Udon and oh my. the savory goodness that it is. You'll want to come back way too frequently. I know if I lived nearby, I'd be here once a week.
Good size men, interior is dark and cozy but not depressing. Udon is soft and cooked perfectly, too. Their katsu is crispy and not oily. They've got plenty of comfortable seating also. Staff were very nice and attentive. Sea Urchin cream sauce udon runs out very early, they only make 20 orders of it per day so come early if you're trying to snag one of these dishes!
Highly, highly, recommend this place!
The food here is good. I came on tea hot day and you would think that there would be so many people eating hot udon. I was wrong.
The service is good.
I got the spinach pesto with salmon and it was rich and creamy.
I would totally come back against.
The. Absolute. Best. Tempura I have ever had. So light, crispy, and fluffy. The udon quality was just as good as the SF location but with less of the wait. SF can have wait times up to 2hrs but here, it was only 15 minutes at peak dinner hours. I ordered the Tempura Zaru Udon which is cold udon with the dipping broth. I wish the waiter had explained how to eat it properly but he didn't so I had to look it up online. Udon Mugizo is so good I was instantly craving more after finishing my meal.
Tonkotsu udon beats most ramen and udon I've had in this area.
This is definitely not authentic Japanese ramen or udon but it tastes so good! Noodles were made fresh and chewy. Broth was good and thick and heavy.
Shrimp tempura was fried to perfection. Also one of the best tempura I've had here.
Two months later, I'm changing my review from a 5 to a 4. Food is still good, but the service was so slow. It took us 50 minutes from getting seated to having all of our orders ready. That is pretty unacceptable.
It’s my favorite place to have warm udon here in the bay area :) The parking lot has plenty of spaces. Sometimes the wait time could be long. But the food is worth the wait. Love their tempura appetizers and soup base. We’ll come back!
