Puesto Santa Clara

Puesto has been my go-to fancy taco place since they opened in La Jolla seven years ago. When the signs went up a few years ago for the new location in Santa Clara, I literally checked in weekly for what felt like forever until they opened, and I was not disappointed. Their tacos are great, they have other fantastic options, and their guacamole options are creative. Free chips and salsa are always a plus, too.

Brand new restaurant located in Santa Clara business district, in a recently gentrified block, just off of highway 101. The place is very spacious and the staff is friendly. Great for team lunches.

I would have given them five stars if they had more options for vegetarians and vegans.

The interior decoration in this place is phenomenal. The guacamole and chips were also gourmet and very good. My problem with the tacos is that they were very expensive and mediocre and quality. Everything tasted like it had been repaired hours and hours ago. I would be willing to wait longer for something that tasted fresh and didn't get soggy immediately when you start eating it

This place is well designed and fancy looking with fancy tableware but the food is nothing to die for. Very small portions in fact for the high prices. I would only come back for a drink but not worth going for a meal. There are so many Mexican restaurants that have much better food.

Damn it. Tacos. And margaritas. And amazing service on top of it? Get the three tacos...so good. Loved the vegetarian one. And the fried fish. Oh, and there's a surf and turf, I think with lobster. Not even kidding. Amazing.
Loved the special margarita to. Cadillac? Can't remember what it's called, but the bartenders will know if you say you want their best margarita.
Decor at this place is also solid.
