Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

We were so excited to see a Rita's in Redding. We were familiar with them on the East Coast, and had always hoped they would expand more in the West Coast. So tasty and so worth the visit.

Great spot for an easy tasty dessert especually when its hot. They run out of ice cream cookies early in the day so plan ahead. Service is acceptable, kind of what you get when you have a bunch of minimum wage teenagers running a place. Other than that I tend to to go for the Gelati with Orange and custard like a fancy 50/50 bar or creamsicle from when I was a kid. The regular size is usually enough for me since it's fairly rich.

Love this place. The Italian ice so smooth. No big crunchy pieces, just smooth. The frozen custard is also such a great texture. I'm a texture person! I love that they have a "natural" option of Italian ice. Naturally sweetened and no food coloring.

Crepe place to grab dessert for the whole family. If it has ice in it they have it. The flavors are pretty good and the selection is very good. My wife really loves this place and so do the kids. I have yet to try a lot of what they have but I really liked what I have gotten so far. It's perfect for when it gets hot outside. They have a few locations from what I understand. Check them out.

A delicious kind of treat! Among other offering here, what seemed especially unique to me (and what I ordered, see lovely pic) was a combination of Italian Ice and creamy frozen custard. I chose the blood orange” ice. A great flavor combo and the two different textures worked together really nicely. They also offer blended “concretes” which is frozen custard with different things like Oreo cookies mixed in - anyone from St Louis would recognize this as something from Ted Drewes, and pretty similar in quality as well.
