The Original Mels Diner

The most okay-est experience I've had. The waitress took her time getting to us to take our order. I read the menu of the description of the burgers and the end result was very disappointing. Ordered the bacon cheddar burger and it was very well done and couldn't taste the special seasonings mentioned in the menu. And the fries were not fresh and very bland. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles-more like one waffle. The purpose was missed and the chicken was bone-in and each of the two were meant to be eaten separately, not together, which is not the point of the dish. We both are from the midwest and are used to diners and were very disappointed with the overall experience. They nailed the decor though.

Quick and friendly service, food was very good, went during a busy Friday night. Good job ????, can't wait to go again.

Really liked the place. Staff was welcoming and courteous. Food was excellent and tasty.

Mel's is always a great place to go eat. Good service, great food, reasonable price and just a great atmosphere. It's got a really cool decor, the Jukebox at the table with old school great music playing... You just can't go wrong with Mel's. All the Skillets, breakfast, burgers, desserts, they have it all. You'll be glad you went.

Mel’s Diner is All-American restaurant decorated in bright neon and multiple colorful signs. There are lots of 1950’s related vehicle signs etc. There are lots of license plates and there is a small coin-operated jukebox at each table. There is a large jukebox at the front of the diner. They have very friendly waitresses and waiters. Today we went for breakfast and Desi was our waitress. She was very cheerful and peppy but not phony. She was a delight and was very attentive to our potential needs. I’d love to have her serve us any day at any time. They have handicapped parking and most of the tables are booths but for my wheelchair there was a table that had ½ booth and ½ open for a chair or wheelchair. It was ideal. They have nice plastic menus and almost endless food options. Any kind of American food you want will be there. They have a soda fountain that I’m eager to try but not at 7:00 A.M.! The food is moderately priced. Our meals were outstanding. Our food arrived very rapidly and the temperature was perfect. The restaurant is clean and new and is an excellent place to eat. They have fun neon signs on the walls and there is plenty to look at. I loved the personalized Mel’s Fairfield signs. I highly recommend Mel’s Diner.
