Walter Hansel Wine & Bistro

We like to try different restaurants during Santa Rosa's restaurant week. This year, our best experience was at Walter Hansel. This was our first visit and we will definitely return. Because it was restaurant week, we chose to sample the two dishes on prix fixe menu. The petrale sole was outstanding. Served with a champagne beurre blanc sauce and cooked to perfection, the fish practically melted in our mouths. Accompanying the fish were poached cabbage, potatoes, carrots and leeks. We also had an salad with mixed greens and Asian pears. The dressing enhanced the flavors of the greens, not overwhelmed them. Dessert was the perfect ending: raspberries with meringue brittle - light and refreshing.

french food, yeah, quality stuff. Visited on a Thursday. Quick and friendly service. This place has an awesome atmosphere. Kinda of like a restaurant in Los Angeles I loved to visit.

French food, yeah, very satisfying. Excellent spot to spend time alone or talk business. The service here is attentive.

It was a great dinner the food was superb. Escargots was a little salty for my taste but the steak, chicken cordon blue and salad were delicious. My wife likes the Hansel vineyard wine flight too

Service was excellent. A lovely cozy bistro with s great menu and fantastic wine (very well priced). The only reason I went from 5 to 4 stars is because while most of the courses were very well prepared and seasoned dishes, most of the sides were lacklustre. A little more attention to detail.... Overall though, place was great and food was good. I'd visit again.
