In the infamous words of Yogi Berra... "Nobody eats here anymore. It's always too busy. In this case, I don't think it's because it's too busy. It just seems to be dead. But listen to me right now. They have cool artifacts outside greeting you as you approach the place. Did you see that horse! What about that zebra! Oh man! And there's outdoor seating to facilitate outdoor dining. You can sit by yourself to eat or join another table if anyone shows up. Also, there's a huge opening from retracting glass doors so that you can sit at the bar and feel like you're outside as well. Maybe have a Margarita if you're feeling the urge. They also have appetizers of Mexican food. Most of it they cook in the back of the shop. Let the server know if you need anything else. Or perhaps the bartender. Either is bilingual, so there are no problems there. The bill comes toward the end of the meal, so don't request it too early. You'll look eager.
The food was fantastic
We had 2 liver with union Rice and beans plates, 6 lengua tacos, molcajete 7 mares. It was served with homemade tortillas that made the meal 10X better. The michelada with 2 Modelos were very refreshing. The aguas frescas were at par and generous. All this food was less the $160. Great location downtown Santa Rosa.
Overall, the service was friendly, the restaurant clean and nice, but the food took a long time to be served even though they weren't super busy. My 3 stars are for my dish in particular. I can't speak for my companions' food. The description for camaronillas said, "filled with sauteed shrimp, onions, tomato, a touch of garlic and melted Jack cheese." There were bell peppers instead of tomatoes. That seems a small thing but the flavor was entirely different than expected and the bell pepper chunks were raw and so too crunchy. I also hate bell peppers (especially green ones) and that's why I ordered something that didn't have them (supposedly). The sauce that came with was good.
