The Prospector

The Prospectors has some of the best food Tuolumne county has to offer. It is a small place and by no means the fast service that you are probably used to in your everyday busy lives. If you want to enjoy a craft beer or a nice glass of wine with some amazing certified Napoli style pizza this is the place. The setting comfortable place heated by the same wood fired over that cooks your food. Enjoy!!

Came here two years ago on a local's recommendation, but didn't have high hopes. I am picky about my pizza, having lived in NYC for about a decade, 3 of which in Brooklyn.

Then the two pies arrived. Classic ingredients, perfectly baked crusts - the pizzas lived up to the hype. The thin crusts are done in the traditional European style, and very well executed. This is now our mandatory stop when we are in the area.

Be forewarned, Robert is serious about the pizza. Do not insult him by treating The Prospector like a casual pizza joint. He will not make any substitutions, the menus are what they are, and what they meant to be. No take outs, since the pizzas are meant to be eaten fresh. If you are in a rush, come back another time, because firing the pizza right takes time.

Respect the pizza - and your taste buds will be richly rewarded.

Best job I ever had. Robert is an amazing cook and teacher. A very wise man who knows his stuff. When you come to eat here, come with an open mind and a positive attitude to a new experience. The prospector is not your average traditional restaurant. It's far greater.
