I was expecting something "special". This is not Mexican food as is typically known in Oxnard. The language on the menu (names of dishes) is interesting. The service is good as both Spanish and English is spoken. The food was a bit bland but not bad, just ordinary.
Is it very good
Authentic Oaxacan cuisine. Very nice people. Place is clean and organized.
I arrived hungry and ready. Inside a small cozy spot with a warm welcoming homey feel, grandmas kitchen. My first time here, and the staff was pleasant in explaining the different types of dishes.
I ordered a freshly made watermelon drink to start, it arrives quickly and it was perfectly refreshing - not too sweet.
I order the Mole Neigro "Dark Mole", and to my delight it was the perfect spicy note. I was making yummy sounds.... it was that good. It comes with freshly made tortillas, a side of rice, and a salsa cup for additional heat, if needed. My tongue and lips are buzzing with the heat, but I can't stop eating. Sipping my watermelon drink with this delicious mole, I am in a very happy food place right now.
This place might look like a hole-in-the-wall, but when I close my eyes while enjoying the food - I am in my grandmas. I see myself dangerously visiting this awesome restaurant multiple times a month.
I highly recommend everyone to give this Restaurant a chance, you will not be disappointed. Cash only place!
Nice food. Great flavor. Authentic. Personal service.
