Had breakfast today here and it was awesome! My mother loved it! Clean and safe, she was very happy because she is older and we worry about her going out! Thank you for the clean place to eat! The servers were great and the chicken fried steak was the best around! Thank you Carlos!

Came for lunch with my mom and enjoyed everything! Real only place I felt safe at. They clean and are all wearing mask! This place cares. My Mom is on the older side and I felt very safe bringing her here! The way the staff makes us feel was great, the food was good too! We will be returning soon.

Came to the restaurant for dinner tonight and got the prime rib! And wow! This was awesome.. one of two places in Simi Valley that has prime rib. Worth every buck. Servers are so attentive and feels like we are in big bear!

Overall, a pleasant experience. Food was good, oj excellent, nice atmosphere. As a life-long food service person I have to say that I WAS disappointed in a few things, but none of them deal breakers. The location itself is a little tough to get into, but no marks off for that; difficult to get a good spot in Southern California unless one builds from the ground up out in the boonies!

We were greeted nicely, sat at the counter, and had a server there fairly quickly. Place was clean, well-lit, and had a nice level of background music playing.

Our orders were taken promptly, and food looked great when it arrived. We had no silverware though, so a little awkward to be looking at our appetizing meals, but unable to eat them!

Waited quite a while for a coffee refill too, which is fairly unforgivable since I was sitting at the counter and staff was constantly walking by. (Note to management & servers: don't ask if I want more coffee, THEN go get the pot... have it ready! ????)

Meals were excellent... perfectly cooked and presented; coffee and orange juice the right temperatures and really tasty.

Staff at the front desk were great on our way out, so left with a nice feeling.

One last note: the restrooms (clean and well-stocked) have no signage as to being Ladies/Men until one walks around the corner and actually stands in front of the doors... might be a little confusing and/or awkward at busy times!

Great time overall though, especially considering how new this Black Bear Diner is.

Overall a very Beary good experience. They greeted us and everyone else immediately upon walking in. They seem to make this 1st impression a priority. Gets very busy quickly here so expect a wait but they check you in electronically and text you a link to show where you stand in their line.

If you want something healthy and delicious off the menu, I highly recommend their California Omelette with a side of fruit. They use very fresh ingredients. Absolutely LOVED it!

Hot Tip: If you like spicy food, add their Habanero Pepper Sauce called PAPA BURN to your eggs.

As a very flavorful alternative, try their Mini Volcano which is 2 large very delicious pancakes served with sausage, bacon and egg. If you’re EXTRA hungry ask for their regular Volcano: 3 pancakes, 2 sausage links, 2 extra thick slices of bacon and 2 eggs all stacked up high!

Normally I don't even mention the coffee at locations, but their coffee is really good and has a rich flavor.
