Legitimately my favorite Mexican restaurant in Ventura. As a vegetarian Mexican food can be tough because there is hidden lard in a lot of ingredients. While their refried beans do contain lard (authentic style) they have a whole bean option which does not. Their sour cream does contain gelatin which they were nice enough to research for me. The rice does not contain chicken broth. Tortillas are lard free. The people who work there are friendly and patient, and the service is fast and consistent. They also take phone orders for takeout.

I work nearby and go here once a week or more for a whole bean, rice, and cheese burrito with onions. Make sure to get their red salsa, it's amazingly good. I really hope they start selling it by the bottle because it's addicting. The hours make it a little difficult to try if you don't work nearby enough to swing by before work or on your lunch break, but if you can, you absolutely should.

I never knew of this place until I met my uncle there for lunch. Located across from UPS on Palma drive, this is a place is hidden but all about good word of mouth. Top notch Burgers and delicious Mex food. Family business with over the top gracious customer service. I can't pay enough compliments about Don Lalo's.

A total hole in the wall. Chicken burrito was really good and monster sized! Loaded with chicken, not just a bunch of beans and rice, but came with no chips. Service was very friendly. Limited drink choices, no salsa bar.
