Great food and beer! Great service from Cameron and nice live music the Friday our group was there!
Beer was very good, atmosphere was very nice with a band on Friday nights! Food was the okay part. Definitely bar food type of food, nothing to write home about there. Liked the sausages!
Ironically brewpubs (brew their own beer and have a kitchen) are hard to find in Denver with hundreds of breweries so Blue Spruce automatically has a niche. They have solid beer and even as a hophead their honey kolsch is very good. Their food is good and I recommend the smoked wings.
“There’s a brewery,” my wife called out as we were driving past. It’s a familiar phrase in our car, one that makes my foot move instinctively off the gas petal and my head turn towards the finger I know is pointing in the direction of our interest.
As we walked up to the doors, we noticed the outdoor patio with several tables and chairs. Nice for those cloud covered and cooler days of summer. Walking in you are greeted by...the bar. Yep. It’s right there begging patrons to sit and enjoy.
The facility is larger than it looks from the outside. There is plenty of seating in the main room and there is even an enclosed space just off the main area with additional seating that can be rented out.
Our mission that day, like most of our visits to random breweries, was to simply taste the beer and see if it would make us stop back in the future. Short story - it did.
As we bellied up to the bar we were greeted with pleasantries and a hat tip...literally. I’m not making that up. The bar keep offered samples to help us zero in on our beverage of choice. They have several different varieties that span the spectrum of color.
After ordering our brews, a Kolsch and a Wit, we were asked if we were hungry. It’s an unusual request because breweries don’t typically serve their own food. As I turned back around to the bar after looking looking outside for the food truck, I was handed a full-service menu.
As I was scanned the menu looking for food I wasn’t really hungry for, I noticed green chili fries and I was done. The menu includes taco, burritos, and other staples but with green chili fries on the menu I didn’t need to look further.
The fries arrived promptly and were tasty. They complimented our beverages well and made the time at the brewery worth while.
While we are not down in this part of town often, Blue Spruce will definitely be a destination place for us when we are in the area. There is something here for everyone. The full-service menu with a great selection of beers made us add this place as a pin in our map apps.
