The Bumbling Bee Vegan Junk Food Bar

WOW! I wish I had known they were here a long time ago! I got the BBQ Beyond Burger and ordered mac and cheese. They came out and said that the mac wasn’t to their standards today, which is awesome instead of serving it to me. Instead, they brought me a HUGE basket of chili cheese fries which were honestly the best I’ve ever had. THEN after I was almost done they came out with a new batch of mac that they had made just for me! Which was just as good as everything else. I’m too full right now, but with how nice the employees were and how amazing the food was, I’ll be back very, very soon. Thanks!

I absolutely loved the fries! I came in the first day as I live close by and loved the attitude of the staff and the owner in particular. I know reviews are meant for the food, but I noticed the genuine kindness of the owner most of all. She stopped whatever she was doing to ensure that every customer enjoyed their meal. An establishment is only as good as the staff and that touched my heart. I can’t wait to get the Mac n cheese! As a lactose intolerant person, this restaurant is exactly what I was looking for in Boulder!!

Being a vegetarian, a new vegan place in Boulder is a good news for me and we checked out the restaurant in the first week itself. The ambience is good with colorful graffiti filled wall decor and good seating. The menu is quirky with options to put different types of vegan patties in some interesting burger variations. And they do seem to take an eco friendly route to serving with compostable water cups. But, to me, the food did taste somewhat like , well, junk food just as they claim what they are - a vegan junk food bar! It is also on the pricier side compared to other vegan places I frequent in Boulder and honestly did not feel that the food I had was worth the price.Not sure if want to spend that much on "junk" food, but I will definitely check the place out a couple more times anyways (though the first impression hasn't been that great).

I should note that I am not a vegan or a vegetarian at all. However, I was really excited to try this place because of its awesome location and interesting idea--I had never tried vegan junk food before. In short, I thought it was wonderful. I had the Boss BBQ Bacon (Bakun?) Cheese Burger with the Beyond Burger Patty and Hand Cut Fries. Everything was really tasty and filling. The atmosphere was relaxed but clean. The staff was really invested and helpful. My party of about 5 arrived during the lunch rush and we still managed to get our food relatively quickly. While the food is a little pricey, the portions were very generous. I look forward to eating there again real soon.

While I still am happy to give a 5-star rating because I was very satisfied with my meal, I do think the canned soda markup was a little high and the drink choices were a little limited. I think a fountain drink option at the same price would be much more reasonable. Like with general junk food, I feel like a nice fizzy drink is almost a must to truly enjoy the meal.

I loved the seasoned fries, but some other members of my party did feel there were a little over seasoned. Maybe it would be nice to hold off a little on the seasoning but offer a shaker or something for people like myself.

D E L I C I O U S!!!!!!! Best vegan chicken I've ever had (and I've tried a lot). I tried the mother clucker today with the Mac n Cheese and I can't believe how delicious it was. I will probably go to bed thinking about it ???? The seasoning was flavorful and everything about it was perfect. The Mac n cheese was really good too! I will be back to try more items, this place is a MUST.
