Mmmm, food is SO good. Highly recommend.
So to start it's a great venue and parking is plenty from what I can tell. There is a main dining room in the back of the restaurant which has an intimate feel. Great for parties 4+. The main entrance has a bar with high top seats along with high tops in front of the bar that can fit 3-4. There is also a cushioned area with a TV for more casual attendees.
The food menu is split with items fitted for the time of year and season, and more of the standard/staple dishes that North End has indefinitely. I've been enough where I enjoy the staples but typically go with any new entrees they have just to mix it up.
I find most dishes and starters to be on the heavier side (more food than expected for one person) but I believe a starter is meant for 2 or more. Not to mention it's hard to complain about too much food when you can just box it. The food is excellent compared to many restaurants in the area. Highly recommend the risotto and short ribs.
The owner James is a sweetheart and personable. Make a note of talking and getting to know him. All the servers and bartenders are politely talkative and willing to help you at any time.
The wine list is sufficient for the clientele. I haven't tried many of the custom cocktails so no comment on that. Beer selection seems to be good as well.
Also whoever lives upstairs has holiday lights that he hangs out during the winter time on the porch and it really adds to the ambience.
My recommendation is to reserve a table in the dining area and bring the whole family!
We went for restaurant week and ordered off the prix fixe menu. The app, main course, and dessert were all delicious. I was nervous when I first saw the portion size and thought it too small, but I left very full and satisfied. Impressed Marylander here.
The North End is a great NoBo amenity. Dependably excellent food without the Pearl Street hassle. The Happy Hour is very worthwhile and there are nice loyalty benefits once you get on their good side.
This place is very nice upscale but semi casual with awesome creative dishes. If you haven't tried the bacon wrapped dates you have too! They are to die for and I am NOT a date person. So good and wonderful cocktail menu. For a nice night out.... it's a must!
