We stopped in after skiing at Eldora. A perfectly divey little joint. Everyone there except for us knew each other. While ordering drinks, the waitress pointed out the most economical beers available. We were ordered a steak with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes and it was exactly the right after ski meal.
The Branding Iron is one of our favorite restaurants in Nederland! They have a decent selection of options and even a delicious take on poutine for an appetizer, with a more rustic mountain bar and grill feel.
It can get a bit busy on popular days in Ned (i.e. Frozen Dead Guy Days or warmer seasons) but the food is worth the wait. The staff has always been attentive and courteous, even when they are slammed.
It's tucked away on the same block a few buildings down from Nature's Own, and just after Pioneer Inn. They also have at least one pool table and a selection of beer and liquor. Go check it out!
Meh. Maybe it was a bad day. $24 hamburgers and pork chili that was watery and lukewarm served with a hardened stale cold tortilla. I left feeling good that I donated to the local economy - but it was not an experience The Branding Iron should be proud about. The best thing I can say is that the food didn't make us sick.
I had the brisket sandwich, it was great! It's a little hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere, old and funky, great place to stop in while taking in the scenery.
It was great! Heather cooked my steak and eggs perfectly! It was a super comfortable place to hang out and read a little after breakfast, too! Dinner there last night was equally good. All of the staff were very nice, but if you visit on a Saturday, be sure to ask for Sally!
