This place is an absolute gem. A must go for big meat eaters and those with an appreciation for history. The entire restaurant is dripping with photos, taxidermy animals, and various historical items. Get upstairs to the bar and see the first liquor license issued in the state of Colorado. The menu is a carnivore's paradise, with eclectic options like quail, elk and buffalo. Service is attentive and even better the staff are filled with stories about the original owner and his adventures. Absolutely a great time, must visit. Will be back!
Dinner for six the day after Christmas, great food, great atmosphere. Great wait staff. Such an eclectic fun place. We had quail and lamb chops and steak and ribs. All the salads and the navy bean soup were delicious. Apple pie and chocolate brownie desserts scrumptious. And we got a waiter to take our family portrait in front of the bears.
What an experience! You don't have to be a history buff to enjoy this place. Oh the reservations fill up quickly, so definitely plan on calling in a reservation. I had rattlesnake as an appetizer, and it was excellent. The bison burger, with a side of glazed mushrooms, incredible. We had a really great server, and we'll definitely be back. Prices are very reasonable, this place is highly recommended!
A great place historically, and for some real Colorado cuisine.
A setting of a wild west echo.. Mounts, photos, and history cover the walls.
A must have is the Rocky Mountain Oysters. Absolutely delicious!.
Our Bison, and Elk dinners were divine and cooked perfect.
A great, semi casual, wear your boots kinda place.
We travel from Florida to Denver for a football game. A recommend to-go place was the Buckhorn Exchange. We made our reservation ahead of time, and I recommend you do the same. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Apparently the oldest liquor license in the state. Initially I ordered an old fashion and subsequently a Manhattan, which can vary based on the bartender. This one did not disappoint. They had elk, buffalo, and other exotic wild game; however, I stuck with the 16 oz New York steak. DELICIOUS!!! It was perfectly cooked to my requested medium rare. No doubt I will go back upon my return to this great city even though my team lost the football game.
