This place is perfectly fine for breakfast / lunch. I’ve never had a delightful meal here, but I’ve never had a terrible one, either. On weekends there is generally a line, so that says something. They have a good selection of omelettes, pancakes, benedicts, sandwiches & soups and they’ve recently added Bloody Mary and Mimosa to the menu. I wish I could tell you what those are like, but my attempt at ordering and receiving one was not successful. They e got some vegetable smoothies that are pretty good if you want to try something different. Service is generally great and the servers are super professional and the young hosts manage the door and line efficiently. I really wish this place had a “wow” dish that was unique (Patriot Pancakes, maybe?) that I could tell you to order, but I’ve not yet found it. It is one of the few places in town where you will see multigenerational families eating together and it works great for this. I think the best way to describe it is that the food at (Egg & U) serves as a great backdrop to quality family time. Name has changed a few times, but the general quality ( good) has remained. You will not be disappointed with your meal here, but you probably won’t have unexpected feelings of food-derived ecstasy, either. Eat here with good company.
We went to this restaurant over the holidays. The name has changed to Bread and Butter. I had been to the egg and I many times and was always happy with it. For me, this time was different. It was during a surge in Omicron and none of the employees were wearing masks. There was also no regard for social distancing with the customers or each other. My food was average. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Locally owned and operated, they have broken away from The Egg and I franchise because of the pandemic! Renamed The Egg and I! The food is very good, way better than the franchise compatible breakfast/brunch places. The staff is Very courteous and the prices are compatible!
Enjoyed breakfast. The interior has been upgraded. No more country deco... now soft greys, new chairs. Very nice! Service was friendly.
Such a great destination to bike to! Plus when it's early in the morning there's outside seating and you can keep an eye on your bikes.
We love their kale juice/smoothie. As for our favorite breakfast, you can't go wrong with their scrambled eggs and avocado toast or their Hikers breakfast. My daughter really likes their All American breakfast which is scrambled eggs, bacon and waffles or pancakes.
This place will definitely become our go-to biking destination!
