El Bohio Cuban Cuisine

These folks have outstanding food and service! Have you tried their pork roast? OMG!! Actually, everything we’ve had there has been delicious and abundant, for very reasonable prices. And they’ve got takeout down pat!

Excellent sandwiches and entrees. Super friendly and helpful staff and if you are not very familiar with Cuban food they have no problem explaining the dishes. Also , the little pastries are to die for.

Stopped by here on the way the Red Rock Amphitheater. I ordered the Thursday special chicken fricassee which was really good. It was moist, tender, and flavorful. I wanted some extra spice and the server blended up some spicy sauce for us. The fried sweet plantain was also good, cooked with the right crispness. I would definitely come back.

This would be a 5 star review if it were on food alone. Their Cuban sandwich is the best I've had in the Denver metro area and the Ox tail (when you can catch it) is great. Their portions are huge and prices super reasonable...

So why three stars?

This is the third time I've gone there DURING their business hours and it has been closed. Full disclosure, it's not like I'm going smack in the middle and they're closed. But Google says they're open until 8pm. They're own front door says they're open until 8pm (other than Sundays). So if I show up at 7pm I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to still be open. I'm NOT talking about 7:59, I'm talking between 6:30 to 7:30 on three separate occasions.

Again, this is super frustrating but I do keep going back, so that should say something about the food, or my own sanity. What's that dang about doing the same thing over again and expecting different results...

If you changed your hours though, please just update Google and your front door.

Updated to 4 stars, because they've been consistently open, and again, the food is really good.

Was not as impressed this time as my first time. I ordered the pork plate this time and thought it was pretty chunks instead of pork chops. Sides were still good. I just need to order better.
