Mike's Famous Chicken

This place ran out chicken, granted it was Sunday and they make everything fresh. We had a lovely conversation with the owner lady and she told us so much about the history and how they came to be brick n mortar...family business for sure. We wanted fried chicken on the bone and were about to leave, but since they offered badass drinks and the kindness, we decided to at least try the chicken tenders. They were not over battered at all and had good flavor especially dipped in their homemade honey mustard. I'll be back for thighs and drumsticks upon my next visit.

Best fried chicken in the state. 3 generations of family working alongside each other, you can taste the love in the food. A great stop after burning calories on 18rd trails.

The kids had the chicken with fries, I had a pulled pork sandwich. The chicken was real breast meat and delicious. The Little Mike pulled pork was also fantastic! Highly recommended for BBQ.

Our service was exceptional!, The food was quick, fresh (we noticed, both of us, how fresh and yummy the salad was) my chicken parm sandwich was flavorful, huge, cooked perfectly and I ate every bite. The big mother clucker was just like it sounds ; big , crispy, not dry at all, chicken sandwich with fresh toppings! Family owned and it shows. We'll return every time we are back in town. My Daughter is in love with chicken, fried, baked, shredded, tenders, patties, you name it - she loves it.

We were on a road trip and wandered through the fine town of a Fruita, CO. Fruita is a nice town that looks like it has dedicated itself unswervingly to mountain bike culture. I approve.

My Daughter picked lunch, and she chose Mike’s Famous Chicken. It looked like it had some good reviews. And the pictures look good, so we went for it.

WOW!!! Great chicken! This family-owned shop makes the best birds in Colorado. They take great care in preparation and serving of a great variety of dishes. We chose various combinations of tenders, tacos, and good old fashioned fried chicken. All were cooked to perfection and tasted light and delicious!

The fried chicken takes a bit longer then you might expect. This happens when the cook cares enough about the food to not batter or fry the bird until it is ordered. The meat is very fresh and this is reflected in the taste.

I recommend Mike’s above all else. It is now my primary stop when traveling from Colorado to Utah (or the other way around).

Go eat there.
