Lovely room, great location, excellent service. The Prix fixe lunch was expensive for what it was, as one would expect in a prime Greenwich location.
Lovely place. Excellent service. Nicely curated menu. It offers lunch menu at better affordable price. We organized here a lunch to celebrate a first communion. They made a cake off menu. Fireplace in winter. Nice located next to the water with a deck to have a drink.
Brunch items presented in a pretty way. Pastries set on table were very nice. Service pretty good.
Atmosphere is lovely. Brunch was excellent. This is an objection I have with most American restaurants: the waiter or waitress automatically reaches for the customer's empty plate while the other people at the table are still eating. This happened today and I said to the waitress "please wait until everyone is finished". Did not expect this in a restaurant of your caliber.
I have eaten here several times. The valet guys are always beyond polite, but upon entrance into the restaurant, the friendliness can depend on who is at the desk that day or night. There is something about going into a hotel/restaurant, where hospitality is key, and being treated as if they are doing you a favor. That definitely is a turn off when this happens. On the other hand, I have also had the most welcome greeting (again, it depends on who is working at the time) and overall, I do always return because of several factors. The setting is beautiful whether you eat indoors or out. The food is very good and the bar area is quite nice if you want to just pop in for a drink and a couple of appetizers (assuming it's not the maddening cocktail hour where it can become totally mobbed). I think there is definitely room for improvement at L'Escale, but overall, it's a fine place to eat, experience and return to (if not only to ensure you've gotten the full gist of the place). I'll be back! The salmon I had last time was delicious and there are so many great options on the menu.
