A genuine Mexican Bodega - in Norwalk. ????????????
Here's something I didn't expect to find in CT - a good old-fashioned authentic-as-they-come Mexican bodega, complete with a tacqueria in the back where you can get some of the best tacos you'll find this side of Mexico City!
So, it's like your usual Bodega - You order in the back (in Spanish. Otherwise they get flustered, and then go find someone who speaks English. Then again "dos Tacos al pastor" ), and pay in the front when you're all done.
In between, you get wait for your tacos (or sopas, or plates, or whatever), and once you get them, load them up w/ whatever you need (lime and salsa for sure!) from the salsa bar, and then demolish the lot in a couple of quick bites!
Do note, the orange salsa at the salsa bar is DOOM. Be warned.
Then again, the radishes and limes help recover from DOOM.
Anyhow, experiment if you can. The lengua and tripa are off the charts, as is, well, everything else. Do note though, the cuaritos and carnitas are pretty fried, so you'll need a lot of lime/radish/salsa to get it to the right place
The bottom line though is that this place is legit. I've been looking for it since I left Chicago, and now I've found it - have fun!!!
very tasty Mexican food you can tell it's not frozen like others Mexican restaurants
Great little no-frills place for tacos and traditional Mexican food. It's also a butcher shop so their meat is very fresh. Our favorite tacos are lengua or tripa.
They also make amazing burritos - order take-out and enjoy them down by the harbor across from the Maritime Center.
