Great food and service. Prices are a touch high but it's a great place for three-course, special occasions. When they're open for lunch hours, the weekday lunch menu is much more reasonable.
For Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother's Day, etc. make your reservation early as they can get extremely busy and a walk-in might be a very long wait (if even possible) to get a table.
Have never posted a review before but man I just had to after a dinner we had here recently. The steak was amazing and cooked perfect. If you like Blue Cheese get the Blue cheese butter it is a great compliment to the steak. Great sides too, if you have never been to J Gilbert's steakhouse what are you waiting for!
Great food and service. Had the Kansas City Strip. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. The corn and lobster mac and cheese were also amazing. The wait staff did a good job and ensured the order was properly executed and were very attentive. Highly recommend.
We fell in love with J Gilbert's when we lived in Columbus, Ohio. We were so thrilled to find one here in Glastonbury! We went there for our anniversary this year and found the food and service to be just as wonderful as we were used to. I had the fillet, medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. My husband went with an aged bone-in strip steak...and wow, it was delicious. Our server made excellent wine suggestions for us and was great to interact with, we weren't rushed and were able to relax and enjoy our celebratory dinner. Thanks J Gilbert's!
We come here at least twice a month and always enjoyed our meals; however, on the last two visits the Kansas City strip steak (12 oz) has been disappointing. Last night, on our recommendation, we went with 10 of our friends, celebrating a birthday. For the second time my strip steak was nothing like what used to be served. The strip steak is a firm piece of meat, but this was very, very mushy. I had trouble cutting the meat even with the steak knife. My husband had to cut the steak and he even struggled. Similar experience prior to this but last night was the worse, I left half of the steak. The only thing I can think of is that it is being grilled in a frozen state. Another note is that the wild mushroom risotto was very bland tasting compared to what we are used to. A few of our friends ordered the risotto based on our recommendation and were equally disappointed. Whatever is changing in the kitchen, please correct it.
On a positive note, our server Rachel was awesome. Clearly explained the menu items and gave us great service.
