Not busy but service was slacking. Patron's was amazing but you can't mess up tequila. Oysters were very good even though not a month with an "R" in it; shrimp cocktail was, as always excellent, and the stuffed Alaskan King crab legs?! Huge and the stuffing to die for!
One of my Favorite restaurants to visit when I'm back home in the Hartford, CT area. Its an everyday restaurant specializing in seafood. Its not high class, but has a great bar, great seating area and can accommodate big parties. My family and I go there, usually with at least 8+ people and they take reservations. I'm not very complicated when it comes to my orders, I recommend the Calamari with peppers (One of my favorites), generally either take the house salad with Parmesan peppercorn dressing or the Cesar salad, and almost always go with the Lazy man's lobster stuffed. Unless, I feel like breaking into some lobster shell. Here's the thing, I live on the west coast, getting Fresh Atlantic lobster is pricey for what little you get. We are talking $20-30 a pound for a live lobster at the grocery store IF they have it, I can pay that in CT for a fully cooked lobster with sides. Its a great deal any time of year... Great family spot and always busy!!
One of our favorite restaurants. The prime rib is fantastic and the broiled scallops are to die for. Service is not so great anymore; we were seated and waited for almost 20 minutes before we had to flag down a random waiter who was nice enough to take our orders. We’ll return because we love the food but hopefully they’ll improve the quality of service (it used to be excellent!)
I had a great meal two lunches in a row. Both days my party joined them we had great service. Our waitress on the first day and waiter on the second took great care of us. I enjoyed a baked seafood dish and the fish and chips. Both dishes came with ample food, were promptly served, and tasted great. I would recommend the Chowder Pot for a relatively quick lunch time meal.
One of the things that impresses me about Chowder Pot IV is that this very good restaurant is equally good at banquets and group dining. They have state-of-the-art banquet facilities that can be used for a variety of events, and the quality of the food served for group dining gets the same sort of attention that an individual table gets in the restaurant. Good job! I brought a group of 65 to the facility last Saturday. It was my third experience with Chowder Pot IV, and I haven't even the smallest complaint. The food was served hot; the servers made sure those ordering Prime Rib got it well, medium, or rare - just as guests like it; and the salads were fresh and crisp. Service is with a smile here. Our bartender hired specifically for our event was superb. And, the restaurant manager gave us special attention; these professionals are wonderful to work with. I'll be back.
